Dance with Me

Writer's picture: AnnetteAnnette

It was a clear and stary night. I can hear the crickets chirping all around me. A gentle breeze blew my hair across my face. Off to a distance, I saw a gazebo that was brightly lit. Something inside of me yearned to go into that place. So I ran. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, as the wind pushed my body against it. As I ran up the steps and into the middle of the pavilion, my whole face light up as I was taking in the view. The gazebo was nicely decorated, with lights hanging from the ceiling and music playing in the background. I walked towards the only piece of furniture in the place and sat on it patiently, waiting to see why my heart called me here.

A few mins later, I see a hand in front of my face, asking for an invitation to take it. I look up to see the owner of the hand, and I see the Lord’s face shining down on me, with His eyes piercing me through the crevasses of my soul. His mouth turned into a delectable smile that would have anyone mesmerized for years to come. The Lord asked me, “May I have this dance?” I took his hand, and He graciously led me to the middle of the gazebo as we started swaying to the music of life.

I kept looking down at my feet as I couldn't keep up with the motions of the Lord. So I started to step on His feet and felt like I was going to trip on Him. The Lord just laughed, and He whispered, “Do you trust Me?” in my ear, feeling a shiver going down my spine. Barely a whisper, I said, “yes.” So the Lord gently lifts my body and places my feet on His. He lifts my chin, and my eyes make contact with His. A newfound confidence starts to bubble in me as we move to the music.

Then the music of life starts to pick up-tempo. It's going too fast that my head starts to spin. The Lord gently lifts me and carries me like a father carrying His baby. He twirls me in the air, never letting go of me as His grip on me just gets tighter with every beat. The Lord never lets go, as the music of life just keeps beating its drums, like a Typhoon beating up a beach in the midst of the powerful storm.

As the music slowly starts to settle down to a soft melody, the Lord slowly puts me down to my feet. As I feel His hands circle my waist, I place my head on His chest and feel safe. I feel protected in the arms of my beloved, Jesus Christ.
